The Rangers are now without one of their top defenseman.
They placed K’Andre Miller on injured reserve Friday with an upper-body injury.
He won’t join the Rangers for the start of their three-game road trip starting Sunday.
Miller exited the Rangers’ 3-2 win over the Sabres on Wednesday with the injury, though it’s unclear when the injury occurred.
He was hit hard by Jordan Greenway in the second period but he continued playing the rest of the period. He then didn’t come out for the third period, though.
Miller, the Rangers’ first-round pick in the 2018 draft, has two goals and four assists this year and is a minus-five on the ice.
Connor Mackey was paired with Braden Schneider for Friday’s practice. Miller had skated with Schneider before the injury.
Mackey has yet to play for the Rangers this year and appeared in one game last year.
In 22 games in the AHL this year, he has two goals and four assists and is plus-two on the ice.
