Aaron Rodgers pushed around the Patriots … and his head coach, too.
Rodgers and the Jets dominated New England in a 24-3 victory in their home opener at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night.
Rodgers was surgical in picking apart the Patriots defense, completing 27-of-35 passing for 281 yards and two touchdowns.
The victory put the Jets at 2-1 for the first time since 2015, but the blowout win did not come without one odd scene.
After a Breece Hall touchdown in the second quarter to give the Jets a 14-0 lead, the TV cameras spotted an awkward exchange between Rodgers and Jets coach Robert Saleh.
As Rodgers came to the sideline, Saleh went to hug him, but Rodgers put his hands on Saleh’s chest and lightly pushed him as he said something to the coach before walking away and glaring at Saleh.
It is clear who Jets fans would side with in a dispute between the coach and quarterback as they broke out into an “Aaron Rodgers” chant several times in the second half.
The Jets couldn’t just have a nice win without something weird happening.
It was a night of good vibes for the Jets other than the weird Saleh-Rodgers interaction.
MetLife was rocking during the pregame introductions that were a reminder of last year’s season opener with Rodgers again being the last player introduced to a raucous ovation.
