As the Chiefs look forward to their Super Bowl future, Brittany Mahomes hopes Bills Mafia learns a lesson from the past.
Shortly after Kansas City knocked off Buffalo on Sunday in an AFC Championship thriller, the wife of star quarterback Patrick Mahomes shared a pointed message to Bills fans on her Instagram Stories for the “absolutely disgusting” behavior exhibited in Week 11 of the regular season, when a Kermit the Frog puppet clad in a Mahomes jersey and a wig hung from a pole with a noose around its neck.
“Do we remember this Buffalo? Absolutely disgusting…,” Brittany, 29, wrote. “So as you go home tonight, I pray we become better people.”
The scene outside Highmark Stadium last fall sparked outrage on social media, with several users condemning Buffalo supporters for crossing a line.
Mahomes, whose voice has drawn comparisons to Kermit’s, and the Chiefs suffered their first loss of the season in Western New York on Nov. 17, a 30-21 defeat.
It’s their only defeat of the season, outside of the regular-season finale when they rested all their starters against the Broncos.
Sunday marked the second time the Chiefs and Bills met this year, with the reigning Super Bowl champs getting the upper hand as they punched their ticket to a third straight championship game with a 32-29 victory at Arrowhead Stadium.
Mahomes, 29, chasing his fourth Super Bowl with the Chiefs, went 18-of-26 for 245 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions.
Kansas City will now face Philadelphia on Feb. 9 in a rematch of Super Bowl 2023.
The Chiefs bested the Eagles two years ago, 38-35, when star tight end Travis Kelce faced off against his older brother, then-Philadelphia center Jason Kelce.
Brittany, who shares three children with Mahomes, her husband of nearly three years, celebrated on the field after Sunday’s game with the star QB and Kelce’s girlfriend, pop superstar Taylor Swift.
Swift, 35, and Brittany enjoyed similar festivities last January when the Chiefs advanced to Super Bowl 2024 following an AFC title win over the Ravens.
The Chiefs are looking to become the first team to three-peat as Super Bowl champions.
