Chance the Rapper’s wife, Kirsten Corley, has officially filed for divorce.

Corley, 31, filed the necessary documents eight months after the pair announced their separation via social media. Corley submitted her filing on Friday, December 13, according to court records viewed by Us Weekly.

It is unknown whether Corley is seeking spousal support or sole custody of the pair’s two daughters —Kensli, 9, and Marli, 5.

Earlier this year, Corley and Chance (real name Chancelor Johnathan Bennett) announced in a joint statement via their Instagram Stories that they had called it quits after five years of marriage. “After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways,” the exes wrote on April 3. “We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together.”

They continued: “God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together. We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition.”

Chance first met his estranged wife when he was just 9 years old at his mother’s 2003 office party, during which Corley and two of her friends performed to a Destiny’s Child song. “Now I’m locking eyes with the prettiest girl I ever seen in my almost-a-decade of life on earth,” he wrote in a March 2019 X thread.

After his dad suggested he perform a dance routine of his own, Chance denied his dad’s request and “moved to the back of the crowd” without introducing himself to Corley. “16 years later it’s happening,” he tweeted. “This wknd is the time, and the place is my wedding. I’m gonna dance with my wife because this is my destiny.”

The two welcomed their eldest daughter, Kensli, in 2015, three years before Chance popped the question in front of family and friends at a backyard barbecue.

They tied the knot the following year in Newport Beach, California. “It was a beautiful ceremony,” a source exclusively told Us in March 2019, noting that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were among the event’s celebrity attendees.

The former spouses followed up their wedding celebrations by welcoming their second daughter, Marli, in September 2019.

Despite their split, Chance and Corley reunited in October to take their daughters to watch Simone Biles and other U.S. gymnasts on the Gold Over America Tour. “Took the girls to see @goldoveramericatour and meet some of the greatest athletes to grace the earth!” he wrote alongside a sweet Instagram snap of his family posing with Biles, 27, and her husband, Jonathan Owens. “Thanks so much @simonebiles for taking time to meet my kids while they’re on their own journey through gymnastics. And thanks to all the athletes who put on an amazing show at @unitedcenter.”
