Sportsbooks might be getting over on Charles Barkley.
The NBA Hall of Famer and studio analyst for Turner Sports called out his TNT graphics team for not correctly calculating a parlay’s payout.
The only problem with this criticism is the profit on the bet is actually calculated correctly.
“Plus-453 if you bet $5 is not $22.65. Fool, come on,” Barkley said while promoting FanDuel’s “Barkley “Same Game Barklay” Tuesday night.
Shaquille O’Neal interjected, saying, “Then what is it?” to which Barkley said, “I don’t know the exact number, but it’s more than damn $22.65.”
“Come on, TNT, if y’all can’t afford some graphics, I’ll give Kenny [Smith] y’all’s paycheck,” Barkley said.
These odds were correctly calculated, though as 4.53 multiplied by five is $22.65 in profit.
The parlay, which consisted of four legs, was the third one that Barkley put out this year and lost again.
He is now 0-3 on his parlays.
Barkley, a notorious gambler, previously said he played $25,000 a hand while playing blackjack at one point and believes he lost millions of dollars betting.
The former Phoenix Sun said he may have lost $25 million gambling.
That hasn’t stopped him from partnering with FanDuel Sportsbook, however, which has used his name, image and likeness to promote the platform.
Betting on the NBA?
In December of years past, Barkley dressed up as Santa Claus and gave away promos each day as a bonus to customers.
His promotional work is one thing, but perhaps he should leave the actual wagering to the sports betting experts.
