We saw the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat on Sunday when Barstool founder Dave Portnoy came just a yard short of a lucrative parlay win.
Portnoy had a $10,000 bet on DraftKings Sportsbook in a multi-leg parlay that would have won $362,900 on a bet that consisted of Kenny Pickett scoring a touchdown (+425, rushing or receiving), Jonathan Taylor scoring two touchdowns (+280), and Brian Robinson Jr. scoring a touchdown (-115).
After celebrating wildly on X while hitting the two long shots during the day, the bet fell apart in heartbreaking fashion in the Commanders’ 30-24 “Sunday Night Football” win over the Falcons.
Robinson, Washington’s workhorse starting running back, was on the sideline as backup Chris Rodriguez Jr. got a surprising amount of action during the game.
Rodriguez scored on a two-yard touchdown run during a particularly long drive that lasted from the third quarter into the fourth, his second of the season.
Still, there was hope late in the fourth quarter when Robinson was given a carry at the 1-yard line as Portnoy sat on his knees watching and hoping that his player could get into the end zone.
Robinson was stonewalled and lost a yard on the play before the Commanders eventually settled for a field goal after a holding call on third down backed them up.
“This guy had five f–king carries the whole season,” Portnoy said in absolute disbelief as Rodriguez got five carries for 16 yards and the lone rushing touchdown for Washington.
“Robinson’s perfectly f–king healthy, smiling on the sidelines. And we’re giving it to this f–king guy? I want a federal investigation. I want everyone in Washington investigated. I want DraftKings investigated. I want Robinson investigated. I want everyone with a f–king pulse, penthouse, outhouse, parkhouse. What the f–k was that? That guy has not touched the ball the whole f–king season. I need Brian Robinson Jr. to score a touchdown for basically, f–king $400 grand, and he’s on the sidelines yucking it up?”
Rodriguez had 30 carries in seven games this season entering Sunday.
The other two legs of the parlay, which was available on DraftKings were tailed by thousands of Barstool Sports fanatics on the app.
Barstool and DraftKings are currently partnered on an eight-figure content deal that allows him to bet with high limits and create content, as well as have fans follow his bets on the app.
With Eagles starting quarterback Jalen Hurts out with an injury, Pickett was given the opportunity to run their patented “tush push” for a goal-line touchdown.
Taylor ran through the Giants’ poor run defense like butter, grabbing two touchdowns en route to a dominant performance even in defeat.
