After six months in hiding, a frantic ex-Rep. Eric Swalwell was spotted scurrying toward a black SUV outside his family home in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday — as the Los Angeles County DA confirmed its reviewing his criminal rape case for charges.
The California Post can also reveal Swalwell no longer living in the nation’s capital, and was only there for a fleeting business visit, which happened to fall on his 10th wedding anniversary to wife, Brittany Watts.
The 45-year-old appeared harried just before 9 p.m., attempting to disguise himself in a cap and glasses as he hustled toward a waiting car near the $1.2 million property he once shared with Watts and the couple’s three children.
The fallen Democrat poster boy declined to respond to the California Post’s questions about investigations into his alleged sexual misconduct that exploded in April, leading him to resign from Congress, abandon a run for the governor’s office and leaving his marriage on the rocks.
Watts, 41, was spotted without her wedding ring in May.
Swalwell repetedly jiggled the vehicle’s locked door handles and muttered to the driver.
A source told the California Post that Swalwell — who in April had multiple women accused him of sexual assault and rape – no longer lives in the city.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office confirmed Thursday they are reviewing the case involving the disgraced politician and Lonna Drewes, the Beverly Hills woman who’s accused him of rape.
In a April press conference, Drewes claimed the Democrat drugged, raped and choked her in a terrifying encounter in 2018 that left her thinking: “I thought I died.”
The model, 50, divulged graphic details of the alleged sexual assault in Swalwell’s West Hollywood hotel room, claiming the ex-congressman — whose wife was pregnant at the time — baited her by pretending to be interested in helping her grow her fashion software company.
Drewes and her attorney Lisa Bloom then went to the Sheriff’s Department in West Hollywood to file a report against Swalwell.
Drewes was seen outside the building chain smoking and in tears after detailing the horrific allegations.
The district attorney’s office has yet to say if and when charges will be filed against Swalwell.
Swalwell is involved in at least two California companies, the first being an AI campaign tool called Findraiser, which he used to desperately hit up congressional colleagues for cash; and second, a media company called Scrublin LLC, which Swalwell formed in July 2025 just before launching his campaign for governor.
The driver outside of the family’s D.C. home appeared confused Wednesday as Swalwell repeatedly tried to enter the vehicle, twice asking: “What’s going on?”
Video footage shows Swalwell leaning into the passenger side window to speak to the driver before moving to the driver’s side.
The driver rolls down his window and asks the photographer, “What’s wrong with it? I just want to make sure I’m set.”
Swalwell then returns to the passenger side, again speaking to the driver before the back door is finally unlocked. Swalwell then jumps into the car and slams the door before the driver pulls away.
Swalwell has left little trace of his whereabouts in recent months, but was seen on security footage obtained by the California Post in August as FBI agents at San Francisco International Airport questioned him and seized his electronic devices in relation to the federal investigation.
A spokesperson for Swalwell’s star attorney, Sara Azari, indicated that he boarded an international to Washington on Aug. 8, where he was monitored by federal agents, and media reports suggested he was coming from Frankfurt, Germany.
Azari, who has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from Swalwell’s campaign for governor — prompting a state ethics investigation, did not immediately respond to The Post‘s request for comment about the case going to Los Angeles prosecutors.
The former East Bay rep is facing multiple probes into his alleged conduct, including a Department of Justice investigation into sexual assault claims by multiple women, including an ex-staffer who alleged that Swalwell raped her while she was too intoxicated to consent.
Investigators in Manhattan and Los Angeles have also launched inquiries into Swalwell’s alleged sex attacks, including a report from model Lonna Drewes that the once-powerful Democrat drugged and assaulted her at a West Hollywood hotel in 2018.
Lisa Bloom, Drewes’ attorney, told the California Post she had “no comment” on the status of case.
