San Francisco 49ers star tight end George Kittle is not afraid of speaking out.
He was certainly not afraid of detailing who he believes San Francisco should be trying to trade for.
On Friday, NBC Sports’ Matt Maiocco reported, “49ers GM John Lynch said George Kittle asked him Thursday about the possibility of acquiring veteran edge Khalil Mack, who has three sacks for the 0-5 Chargers.”
Khalil Mack has been one of the league’s best edge rushers for over a decade, including stints with the Chicago Bears, the Las Vegas Raiders, and now the winless Los Angeles Chargers.
Mack has never won a playoff game in his 14-season NFL career and certainly doesn’t look like he’s doing to in Los Angeles this season.
And with San Francisco’s brutal string of injuries to their defensive line this season, bringing him on board could be the perfect way to ensure the 49ers’ defensive front holds up once the postseason arrives.
General Manager John Lynch would have to give up a lot in return for a potential deal with Mack. But it might be worth it, given how much the three-time First-Team All-Pro would impact the team.
