It’s Day 6 of the Paris 2024 Olympics and there are a few big events on the horizon. Both the US men’s and women’s basketball teams and the USWNT have reached the quarterfinals of their respective tournaments, we’re settling in for the final few medal events in artistic gymnastics and swimming, and track and field is just about to begin.
There’s still over a week left to catch the best athletes in the world competing at the highest level. As is always the case with the Olympics, expect tears of joy and sadness, records broken and new records set, and hopefully many, many gold medals for Team USA.
You might be wondering, though, how to watch all of it, and maybe even how to watch it for free. As they will through at least 2032, NBC is the broadcast home for the Olympics and will be showing content across the entire family of networks.
USA Network will be a go-to place for 24/7 Olympics coverage through July 11, while E! picks up some notable events and NBC will broadcast an afternoon block featuring live events taking place at the end of the day, Paris time, in addition to the evening Primetime in Paris recap show.
What if you’re a cord-cutter without cable, though?
While Peacock is the official streaming home of the Olympics, we want to show you a hack that’ll let you watch 15 days of the Olympics for free. Peacock doesn’t offer a free trial, but a number of live TV streaming services do. If you stagger your subscriptions — subscribing to one, cancelling as the free trial runs out, and then subscribing to the next — you’ll be able to watch 15 of the 16 days under these free trials.
Free sounds pretty good to us, and we think it probably sounds pretty good to you too, right? Keep reading to find out how to hack the Olympics and stream it all without spending a cent.
How to watch the 2024 Olympics for free without cable:
It couldn’t be easier to get started, we promise. Check out this breakdown of the three services below; obviously, the order you subscribe in is totally up to you, but we’ve listed them in our recommended order.
- DIRECTV Stream: five days free, then $79.99/month – base plan includes NBC, USA, E!, CNBC, and MSNBC
- Hulu + Live TV: three days free, then $76.99/month – base plan includes NBC, USA, E!, CNBC, and MSNBC
- fuboTV: seven days free, then $79.99/month – base plan includes NBC, USA, E!, CNBC, and MSNBC
To figure out how to spread out the free trials to account for the day without one, we recommend checking out the schedule to find your must-see events: gymnastics and swimming are primarily week one sports, with a few errant events bleeding into week two, while sports like soccer and basketball run the entire length of the games — the women’s basketball final will be played the morning of the closing ceremony.
