A father is being urged to ditch his girlfriend because she wants him to buy cars for her children.

He won’t because his own daughter is about to turn 16, he’s already agreed to help her find a car.

“She asked for a little Honda or Toyota. We set a budget of $3,000 and if she wants something more expensive then she needs to kick in the remainder,” he explains in an advice-seeking post.

However, the agreement has caused serious tension.

“Their dad is pissed”

“My girlfriend’s two kids got upset because I won’t buy them the cars they want,” he further explains, adding that he and his partner have been together for two years.

“I told them they needed to take it up with their mum and dad. They are the ones that should be buying them a car.”

It’s a response that the parents haven’t taken kindly to.

“Their dad is pissed because I won’t help out his kids and my girlfriend’s pissed because I’m doing it for my kids but not hers.

“My girlfriend’s sister and husband agree with them saying I’m an a–hole for treating her kids differently. I don’t think I’m the a–hole, but instead, I feel like I’ve got a gold digger family.”

“Grasping leeches”

Reddit has well and truly formed the man’s cavalry.

“This would be the time to call it quits,” one suggested.

“Get rid of her and her kids,” another brutally wrote.

“If you gave them a dollar each to go towards a car, that’s more than you are obligated to give. They are all acting like grasping leeches. You owe them nothing,” read more advice.

The poster further explains that his relationship with the single mum wasn’t always this way.

“When we got together, the agreement was that her kids are her responsibility and my kids are my responsibility.

“This just started over a car… but I think it’s showing people’s true character.”
