Rebecca Wylie Simms (otherwise known as Boo Simms) has died at age 39 following complications from a recent surgery.

“It is with profound sadness that I share the devastating loss of my twin sister and co-founder, Boo Simms, who passed away this week due to a tragic surgery complication,” Rebecca’s twin sister, Sarah Simms Hendrix, shared in an Instagram statement on Sunday, January 19. “This loss is immeasurable, and our hearts are completely shattered.”

Sarah, 39, referred to her sister as a “magic maker” and “the brightest light I have ever known” in her social media message.

“We ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate this overwhelmingly painful time,” she added.

The twins were the owners of the Lady & Larder cheese and wine shop, which had two locations — one in Santa Monica and a second in Carmel. Aside from being a business owner, creative director, artist and mother.

“Our Carmel Valley location will be closed until further notice,” Sarah wrote on Sunday. “Our Santa Monica location will remain open to serve you with the continued love and care that that Boo always poured into everything we do.”

Concluding her tribute, she added, “Your continued support means more than words could ever say. Thank you, from the depths of my being, for standing with us during this unimaginable time.”

Further details about Rebecca’s surgery have yet to be revealed. (She is survived by husband Sean Montes, along with daughters Mavis, 3, and Bertie, 2.)

Celebrities, including Mandy Moore and Busy Philipps, added their own messages to Sarah’s post.

“This is beyond heartbreaking,” Moore commented. “We love you and your family so much. There are no words but holding you and her beautiful family in my heart.”

Philipps added her own comment, writing, “Oh Sarah. I’m so beyond sorry for your loss. Sending you and your family so much love.”

Rebecca’s brother, Matt Simms, also shared a tribute to his late sister via Instagram.

“I never imagined living in a world without you in it. You were such a force of nature — so vibrant, brilliant, and full of life. Your radiant smile and contagious energy brought color to every room and joy to every person lucky enough to meet you,” he wrote on Monday, January 20. “You were the most amazing mother to Mavis and Bertie and the best sister I could ever ask for. I will cherish the countless memories we made together over the years and hold them close to my heart forever.”

Matt wrote that his sister’s loss was “impossible to comprehend” as his tribute continued.

“I find the slightest bit of comfort in knowing you’re at peace and reunited with Dad,” he added. “I promise to care for and nurture your girls with every fiber of my being, ensuring they are always surrounded by love and receive an endless supply of hugs.”

Matt’s message concluded: “I miss you more than words can express and will carry your essence and spirit with me always. Being your brother was the greatest privilege of my life. I love you infinitely.”
