Talk about taking things a bit too far.
Despite what anyone says, it’s human nature to want to know what others think of you — and one NYC influencer took her curiosity a little too embarrassingly far by allegedly posting in a Reddit thread about herself under a pseudonym — and got caught.
Elena Taber, who has a massive following on various social media platforms, is known for her beauty, fashion and travel content — and for dating “Stranger Things” actor, Jamie Campbell Bower.
While some in her position might Google themselves or read comments on social posts to learn what others think about them, the 29-year-old supposedly instead took to a Reddit forum where people air out their grievances about pilates going, matcha sipping Manhattan influencers, r/NYCinfluencersnark to start what she thought was an anonymous thread about herself.
Under a post titled, “Elena Taber updates?” that has since been taken down but thanks to some eagle-eyed Redditors has been screenshotted and reposted, “This relationship isn’t new news but I need someone to talk about this with lol. I haven’t kept up with her as much but she used to be one of my favorites back in the day and I keep seeing her pop up with Jamie Campbell Bower and it’s so crazy to me??”
The post went on for two more lengthy paragraphs subtly singing Taber’s praises. The anonymous Reddit username wasn’t enough to cover the content creator’s tracks as a TikTok link she shared in the post linked back to her personal account, which outright exposed her.
And that isn’t even the worst of it.
Some users figured out that Taber has not only been supposedly posting on Reddit about herself but also joining in on snarky conversations about other rival influencers.
Yikes.
This mistake made its way to other social platforms with many commenters shocked Taber would stoop to this level.
“Omg Jamie can do so much better than this mess hahahahahahaha,” wrote one commenter on an Instagram video about the situation.
“Imagine having this awesome life- brand deals, living in Paris, an actor boyfriend and being gorgeous… and still being so insecure that you have to post about yourself on Reddit?? INSANEEEEEE,” quipped someone else.
As the saying goes, sometimes ignorance is bliss and curiosity got the best of Taber.
