An inside look at Sunday’s Jets-Patriots matchup in Foxborough, Mass:

Marquee matchup

Jets WR Garrett Wilson vs. Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez

Wilson is off to a great start with 31 catches for 374 yards and three touchdowns.

Now, he gets to face a division rival. Gonzalez missed the past two weeks with a shoulder injury but is returning for Sunday’s game.

One of the best coverage corners in the NFL, Gonzalez has gotten the best of Wilson in their matchups.

According to Pro Football Focus, the two have gone head-to-head on 49 plays from 2023-25, and Wilson has just five catches for 26 yards.

“I wouldn’t even say we’ve really had battles,” Wilson said. “He’s got the better of the matchup throughout these years for different reasons. He’s a really good player, and every time I get to play against a top player in this league, I’m excited for the opportunity.”

Key stat

5-21: The Jets’ record at Gillette Stadium is dismal.

Their only wins there have come in 2002, 2006, 2008, the 2010 playoffs and the 2023 season finale.

Costello’s call

The vibes were high this week after the win over the Browns, but the Jets now take a leap up in weight class.

The Patriots seem to have figured out whatever issues they had early in the season and are rolling.

This one won’t be close.

Patriots 34, Jets 20
