King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s state visit to Washington, DC, will include an historic first military review, according to a detailed schedule released by the White House.
President Trump and first lady Melania Trump will welcome the longstanding allies from across the pond on Monday and host the royal couple until Thursday, according to a West Wing release.
“Drawing upon a tradition that dates back to the 18th century, the President and First Lady will proudly mark the official arrival of Their Majesties with a traditional military arrival ceremony,” the release stated.
There will then be an Inspection of the Troops that includes 300 US Service members with nearly 500 members of the US Armed Forces from all six military branches in attendance — an historic first, according to the White House.
The review will feature the US Army Fife and Drum Corps and will be watched by the VIPs from the Blue Room of the White House.
American military families will be part of the official US delegation, which also includes representatives from the United Kingdom and students from the British International School of Washington.
After the military ceremony ends, King Charles and Queen Camilla will sign the guest book of the White House — and then Trump and the king will break off into a bilateral meeting, the release detailed.
