Kylie Kelce extended a special podcast invitation to a very royal guest — Princess Kate Middleton.
“Princess Kate just reminded everyone that she’s still boss at field hockey,” Kylie, 34, said on the Thursday, September 24, episode of her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, referring to Kate, 45, casually playing the sport during a recent royal engagement. “Who’s she apologizing to? Did she hit someone? I would love that.”
Kylie further gushed that Kate “looked beautiful” during her field hockey drill.
“Love that,” she added. “For everyone in the comments who are about to correct me: I’m aware that she’s actually playing the Scottish sport of shinty. I’m still calling it a win for field hockey because where do you think she got that skill? Yeah, that’s right, she’s a field hockey player.”
Calling out any haters downplaying field hockey as a sport, Kylie stressed that Kate’s gameplay should be proof of its overall popularity.
“Here’s the thing about the sport of field hockey, so Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, if you ever wanted to come on and chitchat about field hockey and kids, we have a couple things in common,” Kylie quipped. “And our husbands chitchatted on the other podcast, so you can come on this one. Just a thought! We’d love to have you, no pressure, please.”
Kylie’s husband, Jason Kelce, met Kate’s spouse, Prince William, at the retired NFL star’s sister-in-law Taylor Swift’s June 2024 concert in London. Jason, 38, and his brother, Travis Kelce, later interviewed the Prince of Wales, 45, for a July episode of their “New Heights” podcast.
“My family hasn’t got a particularly long history with football, [though] there are a few of us who support teams. My football love came from friends taking me to my first match,” William quipped of his soccer fandom during the virtual interview. “At school growing up, you can’t avoid the football chat. It’s everywhere, and some … childhood friends of mine took me to my first game.”
During the “New Heights” episode, Jason and Travis, 36, also gushed about being introduced to William and his kids Prince George, 13, and Princess Charlotte, 11, at Swift’s Eras Tour. (William and Kate also share son Prince Louis, 8.)
“That was honestly one of the coolest moments ever was meeting you and the little ones that day,” Travis recalled. “We were so nervous to meet you guys and the royal family, and Jason has this running joke where he didn’t know what to do with his beer.”
As for Jason, he told William that it was “fantastic” to meet backstage.
“You want to be respectful and know what the protocols are, but it was awesome,” Jason added at the time. “[Meeting] Princess Charlotte was still the highlight for me. I have four daughters, so I mean, she was great.”
William, in response, offered Jason his “congratulations” for having four daughters. (Jason and Kylie are parents of Wyatt, 6, Ellie, 5, Bennett, 3, and Finnley, 17 months.)
“Congratulations on having four daughters,” the duke added. “I don’t know how you do that.”
