A car enthusiast shows off her epic collection, including a $1.5 million Toyota – and a motor made of wood.
Jane Weitzmann, 70, has had to build a huge 65 car garage that holds vehicles she’s spent her adult life collecting, including motorbikes, scooters and cars.
She boasts 50 vehicles in her collection, including a Toyota 2000GT, a one-off classic Vanwall and a Ford GTD 40.
And she has no plan to give up her cars anytime soon and said she regularly drives them all.
Jane, a curator, from Evesham, Worcs., said: “My dad was into Jaguars and my brother was into them too.
“My late husband loved cars, I have been collecting them almost all of my adult life.
“We started collecting almost straight away and it grew from there.
“I moved here six years ago and built a 65-car garage.
“I have 50 vehicles that are all driven and used regularly.”
When it comes to her classic collection, Jane said her favourite car to drive is the 1999 Ford F 150 lightning pickup, which you can “push” on the open road.
She said: “It is not as valuable as some others so I can push it.
“It has a supercharged 5.4 liter engine, she doesn’t handle in any way shape or form – It is so much fun.
“Another favourite of mine is a Datsun 240ZG, I had a thing about those when I was younger and really wanted one but couldn’t afford one.
“I managed to get my paws on that one and it is glorious to drive.
“For me, it is all about driving.”
In total, Jane has 50 vehicles and 40 of them are cars.
Jane makes sure they all get driven every eight weeks to three months and doesn’t see the point in buying them to keep them locked away.
She said: “Collectors should get out and enjoy their cars and not leave them in a garage.
“It does the cars no good sitting inside doing nothing.
“They need to be cared for by being driven.”
Jane said she buys her cars simply based on what appeals to her and she loves nothing more than a drive in a “fabulous” car.
“For me, it is all about the driving of the cars, she said.
“You can be in a foul mood and go out on a drive in a fabulous car and it will put you in a good mood.
“My collection is very varied and it is down to what appeals to me.
“It isn’t about investment, it is about enjoyment – if I don’t enjoy the drive it gets sold.
