The Mets’ roster building for next season is underway, with the team addressing its infield depth on Monday.
Christian Cairo, who spent most of last season with the Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate, agreed to a one-year major league contract with the Mets, the team announced.
Cairo, 25, produced a .280/.381/.300 slash line with four homers, 36 RBIs and 25 stolen bases in 130 games last season, the last two of which he played for Triple-A Syracuse after he was acquired by the Mets.
The Clearwater, Fla. native was selected by Cleveland in the fourth round of the 2019 MLB draft.
