A mom has come under fire for sending another parent a $31 bill for a playdate that she initiated.

The controversial demand was a hot topic on 2DayFM Breakfast last week, with hosts Nath Roye and Emma Chow slamming the “wild” move.

The heated text thread between the parents has sparked a wave of outrage after it was turned into a catchy song through the Suno AI platform.

The jingle kicks off with the mom in question telling the other parent their children’s playdate “comes to $31.”

“You’re charging me for a playdate?” the stunned parent responded.

The mom said the money would cover what the child used and ate while at her home, including “lunch, snacks, juice, and craft supplies.”

The parent points out that her five-year-old was only at the home for three hours and had been invited over.

“Exactly, and it all adds up,” the mom retorted before adding that “hosting isn’t free.”

“Neither is having friends, apparently,” the parent said, prompting the mom to say she was “just trying to make it fair.”

The mom tries to justify the charge by saying the young child “used a lot of beads,” which are expensive.

“Most parents are happy to contribute,” she continues.

Mom’s ‘wild’ playdate demand slammed

A very animated Emma couldn’t hide her feelings when breaking down the bizarre request to Nath.

“This mom being like ‘It was $31, she was at my house for three hours, I fed her, I entertained her’ – this is wild to me,” she said, adding the mom essentially asked the other parent to pay her for babysitting the child.

The move might be quite a “clever business idea,” Nath pointed out.

“Don’t say that you’re going to charge and then when the playdate has occurred, then send them the bill,” he said.

But the mom is ruining friendships, Emma argues.

“If you’re going somewhere, if you’re going to a theme park, if you’re going to the movies, sure, take your money like you’re going on an excursion like through school. But if you’re just going over to play Nintendo Switch…” Nath said.

“Yeah, and have some nuggies and veggie sticks for lunch…are you kidding?” Emma agreed.

Aussies shared their two cents on the subject on social media.

One woman said nothing surprises her these days, while another deemed the demand “ridiculous.”

“I think if I had your child with me for a playdate, I’d be happy to cover them for the day. I would just expect the favor in return,” someone else said.
