New direct cross-country flight links these two beachside cities

United Airlines is uniting the East and West Coast with its newest route.

The airline announced plans to offer nonstop service between West Palm Beach, Fla., and San Francisco.

Palm Beach’s newly christened President Donald J. Trump International Airport announced the new route in an Instagram post on Friday, sharing that the seasonal, Saturday-only flight service will begin November 7.

“Whether you’re flying to try some Napa wines, riding a historic streetcar, strolling through the famous Lombard Street, or crossing the Golden Gate, United can bridge you directly from West Palm Beach to the Bay Area,” reads the caption.

The airport also noted in their post that SFO is a major United/Star Alliance transpacific hub, meaning Palm Beach fliers can take advantage of one-stop connections to Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan and the Philippines.

The new addition is the latest in an expansion of the airport’s routes, which now include Los Angeles and Denver.

At present, the airport serves more than 8 million passengers annually. 

“United Airlines continues to expand travel options for our passengers, and we’re pleased to welcome new nonstop service to San Francisco,” Palm Beach County Department of Airports Director Laura Beebe told The San Francisco Chronicle. “This route strengthens our West Coast network and provides additional connections through United’s San Francisco hub.”

However, most commenters on the airport’s post were less enthusiastic.

“I’d rather walk than fly out of PBI,” said one.

“Ain’t no way, I ain’t flying from DJT,” said another.

Others expressed their hype over the addition.

“Bravo! Hello Napa Valley!!” said a happy commenter

“FINALLY,” exhaled another.

Palm Beach International Airport in Florida was formally rechristened President Donald J. Trump International Airport in early July with Trump’s own Boeing 757 making the first landing.

The 89-year-old hub, located five miles west of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, was renamed via legislation passed in February by the Republican-controlled Florida legislature and signed into law by onetime Trump rival Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Trump has championed unprecedented moves to place his name and image on US coins, paper currency, passports and buildings — including both the US Institute of Peace and the Kennedy Center, the latter of which was reversed following a court order.

Last month, United Airlines quietly updated a noise policy that makes headphone use mandatory for passengers listening to content on phones, tablets or anything that makes sound.

United’s Contract of Carriage — essentially a rules and policy handbook — was updated to add the new “headphone language.”

“We’ve always encouraged customers to use headphones when listening to audio content – and our Wi-Fi rules already remind customers to use headphones. With the expansion of Starlink (a high-speed, satellite internet service from SpaceX), it seemed like a good time to make that even clearer by adding it to the contract of carriage,” the airline told The Post.
