Kansas City offering incentives for 911 dispatchers amid staffing shortage
Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas joined ‘Fox & Friends’ to discuss how the city is enticing residents to become 911 dispatchers as the city grapples with massive staffing shortages.
Three Kansas City police officers were shot and injured Tuesday night, according to the city’s mayor.
Mayor Quinton Lucas confirmed the shooting in a tweet, “We’ve been reminded too much lately in Kansas City how dangerous police work can be. I am praying for a full recovery for our three officers injured this evening and that everyone on duty gets home to their families safely.”
The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. in the area of E. 23rd Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard, according to Fox 4 Kansas City.
The shooting reportedly triggered a standoff with the suspect. Multiple police agencies were on the scene of the standoff.
Mayor Lucas did not provide details on the injured officer’s conditions.
