The NFL released a statement on the arrest of San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York.
“We are aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy,” NFL communications Brian McCarthy wrote on behalf of the league.
The NFL’s conduct policy applies to all league personnel, not only players, which means York could face discipline from the league.
York allegedly tried to pay a woman $140 for sex after he responded to an ad on a known prostitution website in Columbiana County, Ohio.
According to court documents, York went to a meeting location at a trailer park in East Palestine, Ohio where he was taken into custody after a Mahoning Valley Human trafficking Task Force agent found the 49ers owner had “in his possession his cellular device which was used to arrange the criminal act.”
York was booked into county jail on two charges, one count of engaging in prostitution and one count of possessing criminal tools.
He cut a plea deal with prosecutors Monday, where he pled no contest to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct and no contest to one count of possessing criminal tools.
On Monday afternoon, the 49ers made a statement on the arrest of York: “As this is a legal matter, which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time.”
