Nicole Kidman is considering a second season of The Perfect Couple — but that doesn’t mean everyone will return.

During an interview with Byrdie, which was published on Wednesday, November 13, Eve Hewson explained why she couldn’t see herself reprising the role of Amelia.

“I did hear something that Nicole was playing with the idea of a season 2,” Hewson, 33, revealed. “I mean, I would work with all of them again in a heartbeat. Some of them are my best friends. I just don’t know how Amelia would fit into another season.”

Hewson hoped her character was “just trying to have a peaceful life” after the events of season 1.

“Everyone has been like, what do you think? Do you think she got lunch with Greer?” Hewson said, referring to the show’s final scene between Hewson and Kidman’s characters. “No, I think Amelia went through a traumatic experience with this family. One of the family members killed her best friend. I think she’s living in London, hanging out with the penguins, trying to move on.”

The Perfect Couple, which premiered in September on Netflix, told the story of a wedding weekend that got uprooted when a body was found on the beach. The series premiere revealed that the bride’s (Hewson) maid of honor, Merritt (Meghann Fahy), was the person killed. It wasn’t until the finale that fans found out who was actually responsible, Dakota Fanning’s Abby.

While Hewson isn’t sure about Amelia’s future on the show, her costar (and onscreen love interest) Ishaan Khatter didn’t rule out a return.

“We had a good sense with the writing and the final cut of the show that it does end on a bittersweet note,” Khatter, 28, who played Shooter, exclusively told Us Weekly in September about the potential for more episodes. “But I think it depends on the audience.”

Khatter noted that a second season would allow fans to potentially see Shooter and Amelia “end up together,” adding, “Working with Eve has been one of the most fun parts of doing this show. She’s incredibly talented and she comes with many gifts as an actor — but she also is extremely hardworking and largely instinctive.”

He continued: “I enjoyed working with her a lot because there wasn’t any need for a lot of discussion and there wasn’t any need for a lot of thinking or straining over the text.”

According to Khatter, it was easy to work with Hewson on the chemistry between Shooter and Amelia.

“Just being there present with her allowed us to find the chemistry. [Director] Susanne Bier is incredible and she has such a unique and detailed vision for the whole thing,” the actor explained. “She was very, very adamant that we find that the tension and the chemistry that we can hold onto throughout the show. It can be difficult to sustain that over six episodes. But I think there’s no better director than Susanne to be able to see that opportunity and then execute it the way she did.”

The Perfect Couple is streaming on Netflix.
