The 49ers will be without one of their top pass-catchers for the upcoming season, as news broke on Saturday morning that third-year wideout Ricky Pearsall has decided to undergo season-ending surgery on the nagging PCL injury in his knee.

Pearsall had been dealing with this injury since last season, and the fact that it wasn’t getting better heading into training camp this summer put surgery on the table. Ultimately, Pearsall and the 49ers clearly decided that the best option was taking care of the issue now, despite it meaning that the 25-year-old will miss all of San Francisco’s upcoming campaign.

The silver lining for San Francisco is that they have a deep wide receiver room, especially after adding Mike Evans and re-signing Deebo Samuel in free agency.
