By all accounts, this Mets season has been a lost one.
But if they’re looking for a path to follow, they might just have to look across the field Friday at the once woebegone White Sox.
Mired in last place in the NL East at 58-70 with September right around the corner isn’t where the Mets planned to be — or the return owner Steve Cohen expected on his investment in the second-highest payroll in the sport.
But the recent surge from their forced youth movement offers at least a little spark of hope. The Amazin’s have won five of six and 11 of 15 despite a massive veteran sell-off at the trade deadline.
