Two-timing while on the clock could screw up more than just your “I Do’s.”

Resisting the sexy office siren or the hunk in headquarters can come as a serious challenge to married men and women on the job. For some, the temptation to cheat with a cute co-worker is simply too hard to overcome.

However, new research warns that getting kinky with a colleague may not only send a couple running to divorce court — it can send the splitting pair’s children down a lifelong path of destruction.

“Workplaces with a balanced gender ratio make it easier for people to get to know other potential partners,” Martin Halla, lead author of the August 2024 report, said in a statement.

A professor of Economics of Health and Digitization at Austria’s Vienna University, Halla, alongside analysts from Johannes Kepler University Liz, examined 355,100 minors to determine “…the effects of divorce on those children whose fathers had left the family after meeting a new partner at work.”

Researchers found that 13.5% of the tots saw mom and dad divorce before they turned 18.

Although the scorned husband or wife would be the obvious victim of the workplace hanky-panky, Halla and his team confirm that the kids are the true wounded parties.

“Statistically,” said the scientists, “these children were more likely to have kids at a younger age and to attain lower levels of education.”

“For boys and girls alike, the probability of attending university is reduced by 9 to 10 percentage points,” said investigators of youngsters whose parents part ways after an office fling.

“Boys also have poorer job market outcomes and a higher probability of dying before the age of 25,” continued the experts. “Girls, in turn, are more likely to become pregnant at an early age.”

Halla hopes his findings encourage frisky workmates to think about the well-being of their broods before boinking.

“These results show that taking into consideration the best interests of the children affected by a divorce must be more than just an empty phrase,” he urged.

“Because the children suffer consequences that are felt throughout their lives.”

Despite the damage, it’s no secret that naughty 9-to-5ers have a higher propensity to cheat on their spouses.

In fact, a whopping 40% of US employees have copped to having sex or engaging in a romantic relationship with a co-worker, per a recent poll from adult toy company, LoveHoney.

A survey via RantCasino, an online gambling hub, also found that 85% of affairs occur within the cubicles — with one in five employees confessing to being unfaithful with a work associate.

Laura O’Brien, a chief spokesperson RantCasino, previously told The Post, “The workplace undeniably serves as a fertile ground for affairs to blossom.”
