Jonathan Taylor once followed Saquon Barkley in decommitting from Rutgers.
A decade later, Taylor could become the acquisition who shows the Giants have done an organizational 180-degree turn on the valuation of running backs since letting Barkley walk away. It started with giving head coach John Harbaugh final say over personnel.
The Giants are pushing hard to acquire Taylor from the Colts, hoping the get-it-done-now asking price of a first-round pick drops because Harbaugh is hellbent on adding an offensive playmaker before Tuesday’s trade deadline, league sources told The Post.
But Taylor, 27, is averaging a career-low 4.1 yards per carry, his next rush with be the 1,700th of his seven-year career (plus 926 in college) and he is owed salaries of $16 million and $17.9 million in 2027 and 2028, respectively.
