President Trump has been briefed on the downed U.S. fighter jet in Iran.

“The president has been briefed,” press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a brief statement.
US forces launched a search-and-rescue operation after an American F-15E was shot down and a bounty was placed on the missing pilots.
One of the two pilots has been rescued, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The status of the second crew member is unknown. A search and rescue operation is ongoing.

The take down is the first known loss of a jet inside the country since the start of Operation Epic Fury.
Iranian state TV said the fighter jet was targeted by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps air defenses. It also broadcast a bounty on the pilots.
