Ordering from Uber Eats is a convenient way to satisfy your innermost culinary desires — without spilling the beans in a restaurant or at a take-out counter.
No one has to know what weird food combos you are chowing down on, in the privacy of your own home — until now, anyway.
Uber Eats has released its sixth annual Uber Eats Cravings Report, throwing a spotlight on some of the craziest customer queries from 2024.
“We’re back with the sixth annual Uber Eats Cravings Report — a snapshot of the most popular, the most unusual, and some of the wackiest delivery requests,” Sara Harrell, Senior Data Scientist at Uber Eats, said in a statement to The Post.
“Year after year, it’s become increasingly clear that consumers love to take advantage of our customization features to ensure every order satisfies their cravings,” Harrell said.
Combining two different foods that might not go together can be risky, and sometimes it results in a new trend — such as the “swicy” (sweet and spicy) trend or KitKats slathered in ketchup.
But some Uber Eaters seem to love to walk on the edible wild side.
Bearing in mind that some people’s “yuck” is another person’s “yum,” as the saying goes, some of the revealed food combos are certainly unique.
They include include scallops and boiled eggs; fajitas and French onion soup; fried fish sticks and green tea; pepperoni pizza and anchovies; and orange creamsicle and Tajin.
These were a far cry from the site’s most requested orders, according to the data.
The most popular delivery combos of 2024 consisted of the classic chicken tenders and fries; ramen and soft boiled egg; cheese burger with diced onion; burrito bowl and guacamole; and salad and bread.
On top of going to Uber Eats to order their weirdest food combos, people rely on the food delivery app to get their food exactly how they want it — and it seems like they won’t shy away from making requests even more bizarre than the food they’re ordering.
Some people really lean into the phrase “the more the merrier,” with one person asking for 20 times the amount of an ingredient. “Can I have 20 times the amount of green onions please? Charge me extra. I love green onions,” they requested.
“I picked every extra cheese on purpose, please add maximum cheese. Also please add extra mayo. Thank you so much!” one cheese lover begged.
Others wanted their food to be swimming in sauce, with one demanding, “I don’t want to repeat myself, like PLEASE dunk my sandwich until it is falling apart. Please add an extra cup of juice too.”
Someone else begged for their food to be “wet” with spicy mayo, asking, “Please please use extra spicy mayo — spicy mayo on base and spicy mayo on top, wet please.”
“HOTTEST LEVEL!!! PLEASE I KNOW IT SAYS ONLY 5 STARS BUT I WANT THE HOTTEST LEVEL!!! And last time they didn’t give me the fish sauces so is it ok this time that you guys can give it to me please and thank you,” a spicy customer demanded.
Others believed they knew how to work the kitchen better than the restaurant. One person even told the restaurant what “done” wings means, writing, “Done wings. Not well done, not undercooked, but done wings to where they are a little brown on 30% of the surface area please.”
Another asked to “Please make sure chicken is cooked all the way thru and make sure vent holes are made in the pan so chicken stays crispy. Thank you in advance.”
Others shared that they were eating for two, revealing their pregnancy cravings in the requests.
“Can you please toast the bread dark! Sorry for the odd request! I’m pregnant and that burnt-ish taste is what I’m craving lol! And if possible can you put butter on the bread?” one asked.
Another requested, “Extra jalapeños, grilled peppers and onions, raw onions, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, hot sauce guacamole and lots of sour cream please. And lots of cheese please, I’m pregnant and craving this thanks.”
Some people were looking out for loved ones, too. One user ordering for their grandma asked the restaurant not to put a lot of seasoning, just enough to cover the item, because “that’s how my grandmother likes them and sometimes you put a lot of seasoning.”
“My wife loves her ketchup so put as much as you can bear,” another asked on behalf of their spouse.
The number crunchers at the delivery app also revealed the most popular requests of the year.
The top 10 in the US were: No onions, no tomato, extra sauce, spicy, well done, no cheese, fries, no vegetables, no ice and no mushrooms.
And when it comes to groceries, bananas are the top item ordered every week on the app.
According to the report, the No. 1 late night Uber Eats order is a medium order of french fries.
The most ordered items of 2024 were: burrito bowls, fries, chicken nuggets, chicken sandwich, waffle fries, cheeseburger, mac & cheese, boneless wings, pepperoni pizza and fried rice.
Uber Eats’ data revealed that vodka was all around the most commonly ordered spirit on the platform, with Tito’s being everyone’s favorite. Sangria also made a “shocking” appearance on this year’s report.
Other most popular alcohol orders included Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Corona Extra Mexican Lager Beer, Michelob Ultra Superior Light Beer, Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine, and Oyster Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc White Wine.
Pairing food and alcohol was popular as well, with the most frequent pairings being frozen margarita and steak; margarita on the rocks and tacos; Pinot Noir and bruschetta board; beer and hot dog; and daiquiri and catfish.
