Brian Schottenheimer kept things short and tense.

The Cowboys’ head coach had a strangely short postgame press conference after a dominant second half and a big 38-21 win over the Eagles to keep them in the hunt in the NFC East.

Schottenheimer can be heard describing the game as “it was good,” and “it was solid” in a string of short answers that lasted just over four minutes in one of the shortest press conferences reporters have seen for any coach this season.

At the end of the press conference, a reporter asked why he was so brief.

“You seem a little short. Not as exuberant as you’ve been in the past is everything ok?” the reporter asked to close the press conference.

“Nope, I’m great,” Schottenheimer responded. “Excited for our guys.”

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, though, confirmed that the head coach was upset.

“Definitely hungry, pissed off version of Shotty” Prescott revealed after the “MNF” win. “It’s not like he’s naive. It’s not like he hadn’t heard some noise about him. And whether it’s the call in the games or whatever doubt that’s been out there. But we’ve got his back. He knows that. He’s a guy that takes a lot of pride in his job, a lot of pride in this team.”

There’s been plenty of discourse about Schottenheimer’s use of his offense, as Dallas has run the ball the fourth fewest times in the NFL.

Schottenheimer came out with a clear goal against the Eagles, sending Javonte Williams out there for 25 carries, by far the most times this season, and his 155 rushing yards are a single-game career high.

They also got backup Tyler Goodson acclimated to the offense with 10 carries of his own for 38 yards.

Among critics of Schottenheimer include Cowboys radio personality Shan Shariff, who suggested that the Cowboys head coach hand over play calling duties to offensive coordinator Klaytoh Adams.

The frustration stemmed from the Cowboys passing the ball 54 times against the Packers in Week 6 in a 23-13 loss but they’ve appeared to reverse course on that strategy this week.

The Cowboys face the beatable Cardinals next week in Dallas, looking to get back to .500 and gain ground on the first-place Giants in the NFC East.
