A young Australian woman has shared the hilariously bizarre voice message she received from a Hinge date who stood her up, leaving social media users in fits of laughter.

After stepping off a four-hour flight, Harmony landed to find a voice note from a man who failed to show up for their scheduled morning coffee date prior to her flight.

In a clip posted to TikTok, Harmony and her friend can be seen listening to the audio while sitting in a car, unable to contain their laughter at the man’s wild string of excuses.

The text messages

Harmony shared a screenshot of the text exchange leading up to the missed date to her followers.

She texted the guy, “Still keen on Gather and Grounds at 8:30?” at 7:38am, and then, after receiving no response, she texted him at 10:58am sarcastically saying, “Coffee was great this morning if you were wondering!”

The bizarre voice note

When the man finally responded via voice message, he delivered a rapidly paced, almost breathless explanation.

“F***, I’m so sorry,” he started saying.

“I slept all the way in. Didn’t even check my phone because I had a 10 o’clock appointment with Jiu-Jitsu … I said I was going to be there to help a competitor train, so I was there doing that from 10:00 till 11:30.

“But I slept in till about 9:30 to do it, so very rushed and silly morning for myself.”

He then bizarrely added, “I’m jealous because I wanted to go to Gather & Grounds before you flew out … I’m jealous that you went there without me”.

‘I’ve dodged a bullet’

Harmony and her friend broke down laughing over the bizarre line.

“I’m jealous that you went to our date and I didn’t turn up!” her friend joked, mimicking the man’s logic.

“I’ve dodged the biggest bullet,” Harmony added.

“That is the funniest thing.”

How social media reacted

After Harmony called the man “weird”, TikTok followers chimed in with their thoughts on the nearly 850,000-viewed video.

One woman said she got the “ick” by listening to his voice message, and called him talking while eating “diabolical”.

“The way he’s acting like he didn’t stand you up,” one person commented with laughing emojis.

“Boys are really out here thinking they’re the prize, and it’s embarrassing,” a second echoed.

“‘Appointment with jiu-jitsu’ is what I’m using from now on,” a third expressed.

“These men are not real,” another user claimed.

“I can’t thank you enough for this … I had literally been considering dating again. Rip,” another person commented

“Omggg the audacity!! Do not give him a second chance,” another follower exclaimed.

Whether Harmony decides to see the mysterious man again remains unknown, but she provided Australia with some great late-night entertainment on TikTok feeds.
