The 49ers announced that Williams left with a stinger. According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the issue was in his neck.
The loss of Williams comes after veteran wide receiver Mike Evans was ruled out for the rest of the game due to a rib injury.
With 11:07 left, 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey attempted to leap into the endzone to extend the 49ers’ 14-6 lead over the Cardinals.
Williams was seen going face down into the endzone and landing in an awkward position on his shoulder, while being slow to get up.
After he was carted off, he was spotted on the 49ers sideline but did not return the game, while Vederian Lowe filled in for him.
Williams has been a staple of the San Francisco offensive line over the last seven years, as he’s been a pro bowler the last six seasons, and was even named an All-Pro between 2021-2023.
This is just the latest in the long line of injuries San Francisco has sustained already.
