The I, Robot movie took more than a few liberties with Isaac Asimov‘s sci-fi stories of robotics to turn them into a Will Smith action vehicle. It’s still fun, but not exactly hard science fiction. Smith plays Del Spooner, a police detective who is deeply distrustful of robots.
That’s a problem when robots are everywhere in this future. Now, a single prototype robot, Sonny (Alan Tudyk), stands accused of murdering its creator, Dr. Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell). Sonny not only insists that it didn’t kill Lanning, it also has emotions and a dream premonition that Spooner will lead the robots to freedom. There’s a conspiracy beneath the surface, and an AI uprising is about to begin.
I, Robot is streaming on Hulu.
