X users were left staring at error messages and broken timelines Monday morning after Elon Musk’s social media platform suffered a widespread outage that triggered a flood of complaints across the internet.
Problems appeared to begin shortly after 9 a.m. Eastern time, according to Downdetector, which showed reports of issues with X skyrocketing to nearly 30,000 within minutes after tracking only a handful of complaints earlier in the morning.
Users quickly flocked to Downdetector’s comment section, turning the outage page into a makeshift chat room while waiting for service to return.
“X isn’t loading,” one user wrote.
Another user reported a more specific glitch, saying the platform appeared partially functional but key features were broken.
“You can post but when clicking on your profile it won’t show your recent posts and it can’t load your media or replies on PC/web. can’t find my recent posts on the app, either,” the commenter wrote.
Others vented their frustration directly at Musk, who acquired the platform formerly known as Twitter in 2022.
