Gotta eat ‘em all.
Pokémon and Krispy Kreme have just rolled out a handful of specialty doughnuts to celebrate 30 years of Pokémon. Trainers and eaters alike can collect all of the delicious and most iconic characters starting today.
Only available for a limited time, the entire collection features six colorful doughnuts with unique flavors and colorful designs. Collectors can also score a special-edition pack of 10 Original Glazed Gold Pokémon Dots.
Trainers can order one or all five of the iconic Pokémon-inspired doughnuts or diners can stockpile the Poké Ball doughnuts. Characters to choose from: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu and Jigglypuff.
“We had so much fun bringing the world of Pokémon to life through doughnuts in a way only Krispy Kreme can,” said Alison Holder, chief brand and product officer at Krispy Kreme, in a press release. “From Pokémon-inspired creations and playful flavors to themed cups, special packaging and fan surprises, this collection is made to be caught and shared as we celebrate 30 incredible years of Pokémon.”
Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Jigglypuff all have the Original Glazed with a few specialty flavors added.
Bulbasaur is dipped in vanilla-flavored icing and topped with frosting and a Bulbasaur piece. Squirtle is piped with cotton candy-flavored buttercream, then dipped in sanding sugar and nonpareils, and topped with a surfing Squirtle piece.
Jigglypuff is piped with strawberry-flavored buttercream, sprinkled with a heaping of strawberry-flavored cookie crumbles and topped with a Jigglypuff piece.
Charmander lovers will see an unglazed shell filled with chocolate and toasted marshmallow flavor. It’s then dipped in its classic orange colored caramel icing with sparks of red and gold sugar, topped with a Charmander piece.
The legendary Pikachu has an unglazed shell and is filled with lemon-flavored Kreme filling. It’s then dipped in vanilla icing, decorated with drizzle and nonpareils, and topped with a perfect Pikachu piece.
Those looking to catch ‘em all, can stock up on the Poké Ball Doughnut. An Original Glazed doughnut dipped in vanilla-flavored icing and red sprinkles, piped with chocolate icing to look like the classic spherical balls to capture the creatures.
Krispy Kreme also added the special-edition Pokémon cup filled with 10 Original Glazed Gold Dots where fans can choose from five Pokémon designs. For the extreme fans, anyone dressed in Pokémon attire visiting a shop on Saturday, August 22, will see a free tasty glaze doughnut.
Be sure to call ahead — they’re only available at stores participating in the fun and only one per guest.
Pokémon — short for Pocket Monsters — was first launched in Japan back in 1996. The franchise started as a role-playing video game for the Game Boy but spun into shows, toys and trading cards — some worth in the multi-millions.
There are over 1,000 types of Pokémon, from animals and plants to ghosts, dragons, and living objects with “elements” like fire, water, grass and more, which “evolve” into stronger forms when they complete specific requirements.
