Christina Aguilera’s kids look all grown up in a rare family photo.
Aguilera, 43, shared a snap of her family of four via Instagram on Wednesday, November 13. The “Genie in a Bottle” singer posed with her fiancé, Matthew Rutler, and her two children, son Max, 16, and daughter Summer, 10. (Aguilera welcomed Max with ex-husband Jordan Bratman in 2008 and shares Summer with Rutler, 39.)
In the sweet snap, the family posed in front of a bridge with Aguilera’s arms around her two kids as Rutler, 39, smiled in the background.
“Unseen bits 📸🎞️💖,” Aguilera captioned her post, which also included a carousel of photos from a recent vacation as well as a visit with the singer Raye.
While Aguilera typically keeps her kids out of the spotlight, she told Vogue earlier this year that Summer has already taken an interest in her mom’s career.
“She’s so enraptured by the world behind the scenes and the production of everything, and she loves the band and the background singers,” Aguilera said in February. “She wants to take drum lessons — she is about it. She gives me so much love and support. Before I go on stage, she knows I get nervous, and she’s like, ‘You’re going to do great, Mama.’”
The singer also noted that Summer has even vied for the job of being Aguilera’s manager.
“On the way to school the other day with her dad, [Summer] said, ‘When I grow up, I want to either be Mama’s photographer or Mama’s manager.’ It’s so funny,” Aguilera shared. “So we told Will.i.am that [when he came to see the show], and he was like, ‘Oh, my God, she’s your daught-ager.’ So daught-ager is the word of the year. It’s just so cute.”
Aguilera spoke about her journey with motherhood in an interview with Haute Living in 2019, explaining how she balances her family and career in order to create a stable life for her kids.
“I made the decision for quite some time not to tour for a while because I thought it was the best thing to make a more stable, routine life for my children,” she said at the time. “Even when I took the spot on [The Voice], it wasn’t really something I wanted to pursue. I just decided, ‘It keeps me in L.A. and in a place where I can focus on my kids.’”
She added, “Everything I’ve pretty much decided to do has been influenced by [my kids], but at the same time, I need to make sure that I don’t lose myself and that I always stay grounded in what’s important for me.”
As for her relationship with Rutler, Aguilera and her fiancé have been engaged since 2014 and welcomed Summer that same year. While the pair have been together since 2010, they are not in a rush to tie the knot.
“There are no wedding plans at the moment. [Christina] and Matt are happy the way they are,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in August 2022. “They’re one of those couples who don’t need a document to prove their love for each other.”
