Christian McCaffrey is on pace for a Hall of Fame career, but he still is flattered to hear when a college football star is compared to him.
Jeremiyah Love — who should join McCaffrey in a group of six running backs drafted in the top 10 picks since 2017 when his name is called April 23 — has been likened to the 49ers star because of his three-down value as a rusher, receiver and pass protector.
“That’s an honor because I think he is a hell of a player,” a humble McCaffrey told The Post. “Normally I get compared to white slot receivers or [fullback] Mike Alstott, so any time I’m being compared to a beast like that I’m all pumped up.”
Love and McCaffrey started a relationship because one of Love’s Notre Dame strength coaches is a former trainer of McCaffrey’s. As the son of a former NFL receiver (Ed), McCaffrey is a willing mentor.
