When his star began to shine bright in the Big Blue sky, Odell Beckham Jr. considered Victor Cruz his big brother.
Even before The Catch that made Beckham famous, Cruz had been a Super Bowl champion, a salsa-dancing touchdown maker for Eli Manning who had captured imaginations defying the odds as an undrafted free agent out of UMass.
His old friend’s desperate push to finish what he started in 2014 as a Giant and realize this improbable dream had Cruz cheering him on from Los Angeles on Friday night against the Jets.
“No one really gets that opportunity to get another crack at it and come back home and have that moment for themselves and for their career, so I commend him for having the courage to even do that and go there and humble himself to being the guy that’s further down in the depth chart and have to fight and scratch and claw and make his presence felt to a certain degree,” Cruz told The Post.
