The Giants secondary was already a mess before Jevon Holland was included on the injury report Wednesday with a concussion.

Holland, along with Greg Newsome II (concussion), did not practice.

But it’s not all bad news for the defensive backfield, as Paulson Adebo returned to practice Wednesday, which opened the window for the cornerback to return from IR.

Adebo could be back on the field as soon as Sunday in Houston.

The veteran corner, in the second season of a three-year, $54 million deal, suffered a knee injury in the first game of the season and hasn’t played since.

He had to miss four games after being placed on IR on Sept. 18 and has already sat out five straight.

Colton Hood (concussion) also returned to practice Wednesday. The rookie cornerback sat out Sunday’s loss, further depleting the secondary.

The defense also might be impacted by a shoulder injury to LB Tremaine Edmunds, who also missed practice.

They will be tested Sunday in Houston, with C.J. Stroud in good form — especially last week against Jacksonville in London, as the Texans won their second straight.

The Giants offensive line is also dealing with injuries, as tackles Andrew Thomas (groin) and Jermaine Eluemunor (calf) didn’t practice.

Thomas missed the final two series of the game against the Saints with the injury.

Marcus Mbow (knee), who took over for Eluemunor versus New Orleans, was also held out Wednesday.

Rookie J.C. Davis would start at left tackle if Thomas is unable to go. Davis appeared in his first game Sunday.

Thomas has been dealing with a groin injury since Week 2. Though he’s started every game, his time in practice has been limited.

In the wake of the injuries, the Giants announced they signed another offensive lineman, Josh Sills, off the Colts practice squad.

The 28-year-old has appeared in just three games since 2023. He was acquitted of rape and kidnapping charges in 2023 while a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Abdul Carter practiced after being limited last week with a calf injury.

He said Wednesday he felt “great” and knows the challenge ahead of facing Stroud and the Texans, who have won two in a row after losing their first four games.

“He’s been good this year,” Carter said. “He’s been pinpoint accurate. We’ve got to get him off his first look, pressure him and put him on the ground to make things hard for him.”

Theo Johnson (neck) returned to practice after missing Sunday’s game.

Punter Jordan Stout (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice.
