New footage shows the behind-the-scenes reality of Bianca Censori’s “naked outfits” in what can only be described as a tenacious example of urgent and necessary journalism.
The skimpy, beige ensembles sported by the Aussie architect, who’s married to US rapper Kanye West, continue to grab eyeballs and headlines, with one Reddit user describing the style as a “naked robot costume”.
Now, in a searing investigation, news.com.au has captured on film what it’s really like to stroll the streets while resembling a sexy mechanoid.
Former beauty queen Maddy May pulled on the stretchy, flesh-colored two-piece and paraded around Sydney’s iconic harbor as unsuspecting punters crowded the city’s bars at happy hour.
“I feel a little bit exposed, but anything good in life is difficult,” she said. “There’s a lot of growth in that. I feel great.”
She said she’d be more uncomfortable if she had to wear an elaborate ball gown because it would attract more attention and feel out of place.
“A gown is a lot worse – you get a lot more stares,” she said.
But that’s not to say the naked outfit didn’t attract second-glances.
“I personally feel slightly uncomfortable with it,” said Richard, a UK tourist visiting for the summer. “And I said to my daughter, who has worn a similar outfit before, ‘Shouldn’t you keep that to the gym?’ But I’m probably showing my age. It’s more my own issue than the girl who wears it.”
Steve’s sister Claire said she thought other women would have more of an issue with the outfit than blokes.
“From girls, there would be jealousy. But men would be like, ‘Wow!’” she said.
The naked outfit has been slowly slinking off the wacky streets of Hollywood and onto suburban cul-de-sacs, with everyday people wanting to emulate the style of Bianca Censori and Kim Kardashian.
News.com.au recently spotted a regular member of the public sporting the outfit in the wild.
“I’m following Kanye West and Bianca on Instagram,” Valeria Horrobts said, as she embarked on a shopping in Paris while wearing underwear as outerwear.
“Their outfits are, like, sexy outfits and kind of a nude-style. I want to wear clothes like her.”
The 20-year-old resides in London but had jetted over to Paris to give her credit card a workout at the luxury Louis Vuitton store on the Champs-Élysées. Her near-nude outfit’s obvious lack of pockets meant she was in desperate need of a handbag.
Walking a few steps behind Valeria was her perturbed boyfriend, Michael, who did not enjoy the scrutiny the outfit earned from gawking onlookers who almost snapped their necks doing double-takes.
“I don’t like it because it’s too much attention,” he said, shaking his head as Valeria posed for photos. “I don’t like when other guys are looking.”
On this day, Valeria decided to go for an understated interpretation of the style by opting for black over beige. She spent about $95 on the boy shorts and boob tube combo, which were plucked from the underwear section of Kim Kardashian’s Skims shapewear line.
She said she also rocks the flesh-colored variation back home in London.
“It’s my style. My close friends are like, ‘Yes, yes, yes! It’s good!’ But some other girls, they don’t like it,” she said.
“Like, on the streets when they’re walking with their boyfriends, they don’t like it. They give me looks.”
With the Aussie summer heating up, consider this the perfect outfit for your next big celebration or event. It can take you from everything from a cousin’s baptism to a corporate job interview.
