Maybe the funniest thing about Bill Belichick reaching out to the Jets is the fact that he clearly doesn’t believe any of the 37 or so media jobs he did during his gap year this year actually made it to the air.
That, or he believes Woody Johnson wears a permanent “kick-me” sign around his neck (instead of that absurd bling he wore on “Hard Knocks” last summer).
After all, it was almost exactly two months ago that, while sharing a few yuks with the Manning Brothers during the Jets-Bills “Monday Night Football” game — Jeff Ulbrich’s first game after replacing Robert Saleh — Belichick had this to say about the way Woody’s football team continually finds a way to slip on patches of black ice:
“That’s kind of what it’s been like with the Jets. Barely won over 30 percent in the last 10 years. The owner being the owner. Just: ready, fire, aim.”
