With his Eagles in control and cruising toward an appearance in Super Bowl 2025, Jalen Brunson didn’t hesitate to toss a jab toward Knicks teammate Josh Hart — who was in attendance at Lincoln Financial Field supporting the Commanders in Philadelphia’s NFC Championship win.
“Josh left before the 4qtr started,” Brunson, an Eagles fan, wrote in a post on X during the game, while tagging Hart.
“Have to get home so I can sleep,” Hart chimed back while quoting Brunson’s post, before referencing the Knicks’ game against the Grizzlies on Monday. “One of us has to play defense tomorrow.”
The Eagles crushed the Commanders, 55-23, behind Saquon Barkley’s 118 yards and three touchdowns — including a 60-yard score on their first offensive snap — while building an 11-point lead by the end of the third quarter.
After the Knicks’ win against the Kings on Saturday, Brunson and Hart exchanged jokes during their postgame press conference about the NFC Championship game, with Brunson telling reporters, “Tomorrow Josh Hart is going to the game, so Eagles fans, you know what to do. Whenever you see someone not wearing Eagles gear, harass the hell out of them.”
“I don’t want to be harassed,” Hart, who collected a triple-double during the victory, responded to reporters. “We can all go to the game and have a fun time.”
Washington and the Eagles split their pair of meetings — with Philadelphia winning by eight points in November and falling in the rematch one month later — during the regular season, but behind star rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, the Commanders emerged with an unexpected playoff tear, knocking off the Buccaneers and Lions, with both victories on the road, to roar into the conference championship game.
Daniels, who finished 29 of 48 with 255 yards, a touchdown and an interception, rushed for a touchdown midway through the third quarter to trim the Commanders’ deficit to 11, but they didn’t score the rest of the game.
The Eagles will face the winner of the Chiefs-Bills game in the Super Bowl on Feb. 9 in New Orleans.
And that meant Brunson had earned the final bragging rights over Hart.
