This comeback is sweet as pie.
Celebrating the treat’s 25th anniversary, the fast food chain will return its holiday pies for a limited time beginning November 15, in select cities including Seattle, Los Angeles, St. Louis, New York City, Cleveland, Memphis and Dallas.
The festive confection includes a creamy, smooth custard baked into a flaky, buttery crust and glazed with sugar and rainbow sprinkles.
McDonald’s introduced the pastry in 1999 and has since become a staple holiday treat. The franchise calls the 260-calorie dessert “the greatest gift to yourself.”
Food influencer Markie Devo, also known as @markie_devo on Instagram, reacted to the announcement online with a throbbing sweet tooth.
“Going to check the app every day now! It’s back! That crispy, custard goodness, the McDonald’s Holiday Pie,” he captioned his post.
Per Devo’s report, the pie is currently available in Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Arkansas, and Pennsylvania. Some customers in Northern Virginia and Los Angeles also revealed that it’s available there too.
Unfortunately, New Yorkers will be the last ones to indulge in the custard treat, but they should be able to sink their teeth in mid-November.
Devo isn’t the only one gawking over the Mickey D dessert. Many people online raved with excitement about the pie arriving at their local McDonald’s.
“My fave! So glad my local one has them every year,” bragged one customer. “I freeze, then bake when ready.”
“I’m glad you said that. Now I can load up on them. Mmmm yummy,” confessed another.
“My all-time favorite!” commented one person. “I’d get it literally every day.”
