This was a Christmas card gone wrong.
A mother was shocked to discover her young son was the only one wearing different pajamas in the Christmas card that included his father, his stepmother and half-siblings.
A TikTokker named Taylor — who goes by @craveslim online — explained the situation in several viral posts as she asked viewers if they thought she was right to be upset.
Taylor began her first TikTok video on the debacle by explaining that she and her ex trade off who cares for their son every other weekend.
She said that when her ex reached out to her and asked to pick their son up from school and have him for the weekend — when he was supposed to be with her — she had no issues and agreed to pack his bags and have his hair done for the stay.
“Dad never told me anything about these pictures,” she insisted.
That was only part of the reason she was shocked when she saw the photos on Christmas Day.
When Taylor looked at the images featuring her 5-year-old son, his father, stepmother and two younger half-siblings, she was upset that everyone except her son was in matching green pajamas; instead, he was in a black-and-red set she sent for him to wear to sleep.
“I’m, like, ‘OK, cute, but why doesn’t my son have on the same pajamas as everybody else?’” she questioned her ex, who claimed that they were out of stock.
She said she told her ex that she didn’t believe him and then explained the situation in a Facebook post, adding that the pajamas her son was pictured in were last year’s highwater Christmas pajamas.
“Am I wrong for being upset?” Taylor asked. “They could have at least gotten him new pajamas,” she said in a second TikTok video but clarified that her “whole problem is that [her] son did not match everybody else.”
The upset mother said she assumed the photoshoot was already booked on the weekend when her ex was not supposed to have their son and questioned why her son was pulled into the photoshoot at the last minute, just to stick out due to his mismatched outfit.
“My kid was never supposed to be there; therefore, my kid was never a part of the plan,” Taylor said.
“I feel like dad should have just left my son at home with me, and then all of this would have just been avoided.”
Taylor explained she believes her ex had a last-minute change of heart and wanted to include their son but said that if that were the case, everyone should have gotten new matching pajamas.
She ended the video series by insisting that she never blamed her ex’s partner, Riya Lee.
“The internet blamed her. I never blamed her. I’ve always blamed dad,” Taylor claimed. “I blamed dad because that’s his dad! If anything, he’s responsible — that’s his child!”
However, Lee did not appreciate being called out online.
She responded with her own Facebook post, admitting that her 5-year-old stepson was added to the photoshoot at the last minute by his father. Lee claimed she searched for a matching set and expressed she “didn’t feel comfortable with him not matching,” but that it was “too late” and she didn’t want to leave him out.
Regardless, Taylor made sure the family drama didn’t ruin her son’s Christmas holiday and purchased matching pajamas for the two of them.
“He really enjoyed his Christmas,” she told People, adding that the two cuddled, watched movies and drank hot chocolate.
