The trial for a Maryland woman charged with murder in the 2014 disappearance of her two young children has been delayed until next year. An 11-time NBA All-Star and one of the league’s greatest scorers and rebounders in its history has died.  Bob Pettit, the first NBA MVP winner, died at the age of 93, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Thursday. Pettit spent 11 seasons in the NBA, all with the Hawks organization, first in Milwaukee and then in St. Louis.  He helped lead the Hawks to four NBA Finals appearances and a league title in 1958 when his team toppled the Celtics. Publix is being sued over the death of a Florida woman who ate organic frozen blueberries contaminated with E. coli that were sold at its stores, according to a complaint filed last week. The suit, filed in Pinellas County Circuit Court, alleged Karla Mullins died June 20 after consuming the berries purchased at a Publix store on Ulmerton Road. Her son ate the same product and was allegedly hospitalized as a result, the suit said. Chile-based food supplier Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. issued a recall of blueberries on July 3. The opening of the new People Mover train at Los Angeles International Airport has been pushed back — yet again — from October to sometime January. The 2.25-mile automated train, which would move people in between terminals, was actually supposed to open back in 2023. A Florida woman publicly chronicled her police officer husband’s recovery from an on-duty crash before she killed him and herself in an apparent murder-suicide. Joanne Baker and her husband, John Baker, were found dead at their home in Pembroke Pines around 7 a.m. on Monday, September 21. Following a preliminary investigation, authorities determined that Joanne, 59, shot John, 62, before she died by suicide. Aaron Judge shouldn’t try to be a hero.  With a “moderate” strain of the calf’s soleus muscle (attached to the Achilles), there’s no sense taking a chance now and possibly costing him 2027 too.  Judge is nobly suggesting he intends to play the wild-card round despite manager Aaron Boone calling it unlikely.  Judge, whose disdain for discussing injuries ranks only behind being injured as his least favorite thing, also seemed displeased Boone revealed he had a “moderate” strain after both declined for days to mention anything about the grade. 

They’re pulling up steaks. Tahoe Joe’s Famous Steakhouse, a once-thriving California restaurant chain, is down to its final two locations after yet another closure. The Central Valley-born meatery abruptly closed its Visalia outpost Monday — leaving only restaurants in Fresno and Bakersfield still operating after a lengthy period of decline for the franchise, according to the Fresno Bee.
