The deal, announced Wednesday, includes an option for the 2029-30 season and keeps one of just five players on the current roster who was with the club in 2021 when it won the MLS Cup. “I’m grateful and honored to continue my journey with New York City FC,” Gray said in a statement issued through the club. “This is my Club, and I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished together, but I’m hungry for more. I want to keep winning, continue helping this group, and be part of this next chapter as we look ahead to Etihad Park.” Gray was in the final year of his contract with NYCFC this season, and sporting director Todd Dunivant told reporters earlier this month at a media event at the club’s Manhattan headquarters that talks were “absolutely ongoing.” Gray has appeared in 178 matches across all competitions since he signed his first professional Homegrown contract with the club in 2019 at 17 years old. Since then, he’s scored three goals and recorded 13 assists in an NYCFC jersey. Speaking with reporters…
That won’t fly. A California native tribe is accusing Riverside County of fraud and racial discrimination after the county passed a law barring them from negotiating access to an airport next to its property, according to a lawsuit obtained by Law360. In a lawsuit filed Monday, the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians claim that after they spent $12 million to purchase 612 acres of land adjacent the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in Thermal, Calif., Riverside County sneakily passed a resolution blocking them from entering into a Through-the Fence (TTF) agreement with the airport. A TTF agreement allows private property…

A cheeseburger, fries and a soda remain one of America’s classic comfort meals, but what Americans pay for that combo depends heavily on where they live, according to the so-called Cheeseburger Index. A new DoorDash State of Local Commerce report, which compares the average price of a cheeseburger, fries and a soda across US cities, found the average price of the meal is lowest in Austin, Texas, at $12.94. DoorDash said cities in the South and Southeast tend to be more affordable because of structurally lower operating costs, helping the region rank well across both grocery and restaurant price indexes. The…

Ever since All-Star rosters were first released last week, the Dodgers had been campaigning for Justin Wrobleski not to be snubbed. On Saturday, salvation arrived for the young left-hander. Three days before the game, he learned he had been picked as an All-Star after all. The selection came as a replacement on the National League pitching staff, after Cincinnati Reds right-hander Chase Burns opted out of the event. Wrobleski will now take his place, going to Philadelphia with a 10-2 record and 2.69 ERA. That Wrobleski hadn’t made the Midsummer Classic already was a point of frustration for both him…
