WASHINGTON — Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin’s plane made an emergency landing at Reagan National Airport on Wednesday — with a single working engine on his Coast Guard plane.
“We just lost our right engine. We’d like to declare an emergency and [request] immediate landing at DCA,” the pilot radioed to aircraft control.
“We have 14 souls on board and 2.5 hours of fuel,” she said.
Mullin, who was returning from Georgia — after stopping in New York City on Tuesday — played down the ordeal after landing safely.
“The United States Coast Guard pilots made the single-engine landing feel routine,” Mullin tweeted.
“No panic, just straight professionalism. After we landed, the pilots told me that was a first for them! We could not have been in better hands.”
Fox News reports that the C101, a C-37A Gulfstream V jet, had been flagged last year for review due to its age.
At the time, then-DHS Secretary Kristi Noem acquired two Gulfstream G700 jets for the Coast Guard costing up to $200 million, more than a $50 million projection — causing a stir on Capitol Hill, where Democrats showed off luxury features, including beds.
A DHS spokesperson did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
