Everything with Sami Zayn feels like it’s happening with purpose.
We have seen him struggle with his morality for months while interacting with Cody Rhodes, the jealousy eating him inside as the WWE champion continues to succeed in ways he can only imagine and is no longer feeling grateful for his help.
While this was going on, Zayn continued to fail — outside of a short-lived reign as United States champion — to secure his first world championship. He lost to then-WWE champion Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble and didn’t even earn a chance to compete inside the Elimination Chamber.
Zayn’s WrestleMania story was watching the audience, who he was once beloved by, turn on him for Trick Williams because of all the things he’s never had. Williams oozes charisma, has the cool WWE entrance fans can chant to, has a massive celebrity working next to him in Lil Yachty and appears to be getting the rocket strapped to him. Zayn has charisma in a different way, but has never been given that premier WWE packaging. He always has to grind his way to wherever he lands.
