LIV Golf played its opening round in Mexico City as scheduled Thursday, and will carry on through Sunday’s completion in the sixth tournament of its 14-event 2026 schedule.
That, however, doesn’t mean all is well with LIV Golf.
To the contrary: It feels like there are more uncertainties surrounding the Saudi-backed tour than there were before it conducted its first tournament.
The reports that surfaced Wednesday that the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) was about to cease its funding of LIV appear to be real.
