The Yankees won 93 games, second-most in the American League. They won a round in the playoffs. They did this in a year in which they reached the postseason for the ninth time in 10 years and the 27th time in the past 32 years.
And they are in the midst of being trashed like they had a worse season than the Mets.
This is one of the rites of the fall. Once the Yankees season ends short of a title yet again, those in charge are treated like dunces, as if their record for consistent excellence does not exist.
The Yankees, in turn, decide that all the vitriol from outside is “noise” — ill-informed and ill-willed. And there is no doubt that The Click Industrial Complex has made bold, mean and loud way more sellable than well-informed.
