The Wings are keeping a tight lid on things with their No. 1 draft pick.
Dallas’ WNBA franchise introduced top pick Azzi Fudd on Thursday, but quickly made it clear the former UConn star wouldn’t be discussing her relationship with teammate Paige Bueckers.
“I understand why you have to ask that question, but we’re going to respectfully decline from commenting on our players’ personal lives,” a team PR official responded to a reporter’s query about whether the two were still dating and how they might navigate the league as a couple.
Bueckers, the 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year and Fudd’s former Huskies teammate, confirmed their relationship during last year’s All-Star weekend.
Fudd posted an image to Instagram last June showing her phone case, which was revealed to say “Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend.”
In an interview with WAG Talk last July, Bueckers responded to the prompt “Girlfriend reveal it’s…” by saying, “Azzi Fudd.”
Their current relationship status is unclear. And clarity may not be coming anytime soon, at least by the looks of how it’s being handled by the Wings.
Bueckers was on her feet at the draft in Manhattan on Monday night, clapping when the Wings made Fudd her teammate once again — and later posing alongside her with a fresh Dallas jersey with the Fudd nameplate.
“I’m so excited to play again with Paige,” Fudd told ESPN after being selected. “She’s an incredible person, an incredible player and it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”
It will certainly be an interesting dynamic on the floor between the two, with plenty of folks out there seeking a better understanding of their entanglement — even if they may not get it.
